Guest Post about Make-up Training...

Hey guys..

I know I've disappeared for a few days but I have ALOT of catching up to do with guest posts and my own posts so will be getting that all sorted throughout the weekend!

As you can understand I'm one person and sometimes the blog may take a back seat for a week or so just until I have a little time on my hands to get into schedule again!

Well here we have a lovely little guest post so for you lovely ladies and men looking to train in Make-up then this post could help you and offer you some advice.

What goes on behind the scenes with salon training?

Backstage Make-up Fashion Shows

When you see film and theatre stars in all their finery and regalia on set and screen, combined with their sculpted-looking faces and immaculate hair, they can all make it look rather effortless!
Behind the scenes, of course, a substantial amount of effort is undertaken by makeup artists, stylists and costume designers to get the look of the stars just right.

So, what goes into training those who make the stars look as good as they do?

Make-up Brushes
Firstly, although there aren’t any specific requirements for education, many individuals choose to take “cosmetology” degrees, which contrary to what it sounds like actually relates to the teaching of general beauty knowledge.

This generally involves haircutting, skin care and nail care/product application.
More advanced skills such as how to manage a salon are sometimes taught, as well. More specifically, Esthetician degrees focus on the skincare aspect of beautification.

Film, theatre and television-specific courses delve deeper into those specialising in the industry; special effects makeup for example isn’t something that is easily learned or transferred from more base level programmes.
Communication is important as the artist needs to work closely with the individual to give them an appearance that they are happy with and suits their role whilst taking into account such factors as facial contours, hair lines, and the smoothness (or otherwise) of the subject’s skin.

If you’re interested in Make up training you can find out more from Makeup Training, who specialise in the field.

So there you have a few little tips of what you could look into when deciding what to study.

I for example went to college as soon as I left school and studied for a year in an intensive (daily) course for 1 year in media, theatrical and cosmetic make-up. This also covered skincare, nail treatments and hairstyling.

The MOST important thing though is experience.....whilst you study make sure you get experience in the theatre, shadow a make-up artist and do as much as you can in freelance work....this is what I did and then I started getting more and more work in London which led to fashion shows, photoshoots, special events, charity events and with wonderful celebrities!!

I hope this post helps you out and you get some advice about what to look for!

Come back soon as I have ALOT of posts coming :)

Fashion Jewellery!! :)

We all LOVE jewellery and we all LOVE making and statement with our jewellery!

I think an outfit can be changed completely just by changing your accessories and jewellery.

Take a simple black dress....add a pair of hoops, stack some bangles together and wear some gorgeous heels...done!

Now using that same black dress you can add a long necklace, wear a statement ring...throw on a biker jacket and wear some gorgeous ankle boots and it looks like you're wearing another dress just by the accessories you've added to it!!

Statement Jewellery - Fashion jewellery - LaylaD Beauty

Make sure you ALL visit www.layladbeauty.co.uk and check out these beauties which are ALL UNDER £10!!!!!!

Yep gorgeous jewellery for under £10...what a bargain!! :)

My little shopping trip!

Goodmorning beauties!!

A couple of days ago I decided to go shopping....what a big mistake that was hahahaha!!

Me + Shops = Best Friends!

I love shopping...I love walking around the shops and even window shopping....I love picking out what I like and seeing what colours are in trend....I like seeing variety in shops and I also like to spot what people are wearing!

Some people are just so chic and lovely....I want to walk over to them and say WELL DONE....you know how to dress!! :)

Anyway after buying a few new t-shirts and cosy jumpers I thought it was best to take some photos and I saw these gorgeous shoes in the window of House of fraser!

As a lot of you know...sparkles catch my eye and these shoes are gorgeous!!!

Sparkly shoes!!

Look at the sparkle on the heels...both the white and black pair are beautiful but I think the sparkles stand out better on the black pair so I would buy the black pair.

I also LOVE the spike shoes on the bottom right....they look super cool!

Sparkly Cardigan

This sparkly cardigan is so, so pretty...see me and sparkly things!!

There are a lot of these on the high street from different stores so the prices vary from about £19.99 to £39.99 and the quality is really similar so if you like this cardigan then make sure you go to different stores and check out the prices and see which you prefer! :)

Of course NO shopping trip would be complete without one of these gorgeous drinks......

Starbucks

STARBUCKS!!!! Yeahhhhhh

Hahaha....either a caramel macchiato...hazelnut hot chocolate or during christmas salted caramel hot chocolate...YUM?? YES!! :)

Lots of love!!

Part 2 - Christmas is coming to London!!

Hey beauties!!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!!

Here is Part 2 of the Christmassy London post!! :)

I have one too many photos so need to split the post into several posts hahaha!!

Hope you enjoy :) xxx

Bike ride in London
So on the way to Leicester Square I decided to get onto the bike/carts you find around London!

It's a little bike and on the back a cart as you can see the one in front of mine! As it was me and my family we had to split up as there was too many of us to go in one cart!

One cart holds 3 people (squashed) haha and 2 comfortably!

It's £15 per cart but it was a lovely little ride!

The man plugged in his iPod and Michael Jackson started playing....I think he liked Michael Jackson as the song was on repeat!! :)

Sorry about the blurry-ness...I was SO scared as I didn't want to drop my phone so was clinging to it and these were the best photos haha!

Trying to take photos without dropping my phone hahaha!

Tommy Hilfiger - LONDON

Tommy Hilfiger store in London! :)

This is London....Lights, people  and traffic haha!

Leicester Square

Once we were in Leicester Square I decided to take this picture as I quite liked the pretty colours and building!

Hot Chocolate

The first hot chocolate of the evening in Leicester Square!! :)

Yep I had another hot chocolate and some sweeties too but that's all in the next couple of posts!

Make sure you check back soon as there will be more Christmassy London Posts!!! :)

Lots of Love!

Part 1 - Christmas is coming to London!!!

Hello to you gorgeous people!!

The weather is getting colder and the Christmas spirit is starting to grow with everyone now!!
Stores are getting decorated....lights are switching on and STARBUCKS red cups are everywhere hahahaha!!

There's one thing I REALLY want to try this year... 'Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate' everyone seems to be raving about it but is it really THAT good!?!?!?
(Let me know)

A couple of days ago I went into London for a meeting but then afterwards I had some time and met up with family and had a lovely afternoon!!

I have SO many photos that I'll have to do several posts hahahaha.....I was walking around thinking 'My blog readers would love this' so I started taking photos and ended up taking nearly 100 in the space of an hour...whoops!

So here is 'Part 1' of My London photos!!

Hope you all like :)

xxx

The Langham Hotel
This is a lovely hotel (The Langham Hotel) which I walked past and had to take a photo as the building (I thought) was extremely pretty.

Only after did I realise they were actually filming here and went to the crew to ask what for and they told me it's the new Bruce Willis film....they didn't tell me which one though :( hence the cones in the picture hahahaha!

The staff at The Langham Hotel

I don't think they realised me taking a photo of them hahaha!!

Beautiful buildings in London

Sometimes I walk around London and don't really notice the buildings which is a shame but when I do notice them I just stare as they're so pretty.

I think this photo above is really lovely with the lighting and the sky just starting to get darker!

Busy streets in London

Walking round the corner it quickly got darker and spotted a busy street right ahead of me....a really cool 'shopping street' :)

Christmas lights in London!!

Every year I love how London is decorated, the streets are busy, the weather gets colder and the Christmas spirit starts to build....I LOVE it!!

Pretty christmas decorations in London
As you can see in the other picture the sky got dark quickly but as I looked down a street I could still see the sun peeking through which you can see in the picture above.

You can just see the Christmas decorations against the sun.

Your London Black Cab on the right and the hustle and bustle of people walking around.....love!!!!

Well beauties...this is the end of the 'Part 1' of my London photos!!

Do you like???
Looking forward to the next post??

Let me know.

Outfit of the day - Beauty Blogger

Hey guys!!

I hope you're all well and happy!!

I had a really lovely weekend and I managed to have a really relaxing Sunday which I'll be posting about as I took LOOOOOOOOOTS of photos for you :)

I know I haven't blogged about Beauty for a while but I have some lovely reviews to write up and share with you so make sure you look out for that!!

Here is a really short and simple 'Outfit of the day' post for you!

This was me a few days ago when I didn't really fancy doing anything with my hair!

Outfit of the day - Simple T-shirt - Bun

See!
My hair is in a bun and I kept my make-up very simple.

All I'm wearing in the photo above is my very own
£4.99

 £15.99

I'm also wearing a very little amount of my Mineral Medium Tan Foundation which gives your skin a gorgeous, healthy glow and you need such a little amount as it goes a very, very long way!!

My t-shirt is from Disney hahahahaha!!
Yep I bought this t-shirt from Disney for only £12.99!!

It's a kids size 13 I think and it's quite loose which I like! I like baggy/loose t-shirts as they're just so comfy to wear!!

Have you bought any clothes from the Disney store??

What are your make-up must-haves on a day when you don't want to wear much??

Let me know!!

Childhood Sweeties!! :)

Hey lovely people!!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and managing to relax a little!

When I was a little girl I would always pick certain sweeties to eat and I can safely say that nothing has changed even now!
What were my favourite sweets then are still my favourite now!!

For a couple of years I lost track of PEZ sweeties so you can imagine my happiness when I found some in the local sweet shop!!

I was like a child on Christmas eve and me being me...I picked the sparkly pink Hello Kitty PEZ!!!

Hahahaha!!!

Hello Kitty Pez
I LOVE pez and I LOVE this Hello Kitty bright pink sparkle design too!!!

Glittery Hello Kitty PEZ
A close up so you can see the glittery sparkles!!
I used the Vintique app just to boost the pink slightly!

Me + Sparkle = Happy

I love glitter and I love sparkly things....I think you can tell from my wardrobe because I have a lot of colourful things, a lot of jackets, cardigans and t-shirts which have sparkles/sequins and/or glitter on them!

I'll leave the fashion writing for now and tell you more in the next post....I may even dig deep into my wardrobe and take some pictures for you!

So tell me....what are YOUR favourite sweets??

Is there any sweets that you loved as a child and can't find now??

Tell me!!! :)

Lots of love!!

Cardigan, Curly Hair - OUTFIT OF THE DAY!!

Hey Gorgeous readers!!!

Well it's been a while since I did an 'Outfit of the day' post so here is a little snapshot of what I was wearing a few days ago!! :)

Outfit of the day, cardigans, curly hair and simple make-up.

As a lot of you know I like to use certain apps which are really handy for editing photos, creating mini collage-style photos and for adding sparkles to them and as I've had a lot of emails from people asking about my apps I've listed them below for you!

1. PicFX - Sparkles, Borders and Colour Changes.
2. Lumie - Sparkles, Stars and Lights.
3. Vintique - Old style photos, black and white, borders and edging blur.

There you have my must-have apps if you're a fellow beauty blogger :)

Now in the pictures I'll list what I'm wearing!!

1. Cardigan - Marks & Spencer - Sale (I can't remember the price...sorry)
2. Plain Black t-shirt - H&M - £9.99
3. Ring - House of Fraser - £22.99

I used GHD's on my hair to add more curls as I wanted to add more definition to my waves.
My make-up is ALL from www.layladbeauty.co.uk - my make-up and skincare website :)

I STILL receive products from companies which I get sent to be reviewed and I DO mention when I am wearing them.
When I don't I ONLY wear my own make-up and use my own skincare products.

What are your favourite make-up products??

COMMENTS BELOOOOOOOW!!!

Halloween, Pumpkins and Fun!

Hello guys!

Well I know it's been a while since I've posted BUT I wanted to share some photos with your from Halloween!

I found this amazing app on the iPhone called Vintique and it's perfect for editing photos and giving them a unique feel.

You can make photos look old, new, rainbow, you can add borders and lots more so it's really nice and handy!

For lights and sparkles I like Lumie and PicFX but really I should start using a 'proper' camera instead of my phone hahahaha....but it's oh so handy and quite a good camera on the iPhone!! :)

Anyway here are some Halloween pictures....share yours too!

I'll feature my favourite so get those photos in and share this with your friends! :)

Halloween Pumpkin!
Halloween time..... :)

Skeleton....halloween....

It's nice to make an effort for different holidays and buying cute things for the house!

Halloween Tree with a witch mask!

This is a pretty Halloween tree....not a christmas tree lol. It's black and has little halloween inspired decorations on it.....we added the mask to make it scarier hahaha!!

Home Decoration Ideas
This is just a gorgeous vase at the top of the stairs with branches which have little sparkly lights on it!
They're really big here in the UK and instantly change a room with the pretty lighting!

The broom is there only for the occasion hahaaha!

Did you all have a wonderful Halloween?? Let me know and don't forget to send your photos through! :)

Family, Friends & Happiness.....Guest Post by BECCA! x

Hey guys!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Sometimes I feel like I don't want to write about make-up, fashion or beauty....I want to write about not taking things for granted and living life to the full and making sure you always tell your family and friends and the closest ones to you how much they mean to you and how much you love them because I think we don't do it enough now!!

We are all after the latest mobile phone, the latest laptop, the latest fashion, the latest beauty but really NONE of those things have any meaning in life.......the things that have meaning is our family and the love you have for one another.

Sometimes when you're down or not feeling like your day is going feel you need to think that there is someone out there who is suffering, who doesn't have a family, who is ill and the only thing that they would like is to have healthy, happiness and their family with them!

After reading a wonderful post on Becca's blog EVERDAY LIFES
I asked if she could write me a guest post as I LOVED the post and thought all of you would also like to read it!

You ALL need to check out Becca's blog more often as there are a lot of wonderful posts like this on there but this one really, really stood out.....so here you go!!

Hi my name is Becca and i write a personal blog named Everyday Life. I recently posted this great story on my blog and Layla asked if i could turn it into a guest post so here goes.

Have you you ever found yourself being dragged down by life?
Just totally stressed about everything friends , family, work even things as simple as remembering to take out trash has you freaking out.

Well we all have we get so caught up in life and how fast it moves that we sometimes forget to stop and breathe, to just enjoy the simple things.

Hence this story of a professor who decided to give his Philosophy class a little lesson on the importance of life and what it means. I hope you enjoy this story.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles roll
ed into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Coffee's from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed..
‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car..
The sand is everything else—-the small stuff.

‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children.
Spend time with your parents.
Visit with grandparents.
Take your spouse out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter.
Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’
The Coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a cup of cofee with a friend.

I hope you all enjoy the post as much as I do....just read this every morning and not get stressed about work or silly little things...make sure you enjoy every minute with your family and friends, they will be the ones who will ALWAYS be there for you and always support you..... everything else will fall into place!! :)

Make sure you all visit Becca and say hello to her!!
