Guest Post - Accessories & Fashion Tips!

Welcoming a lovely little guest post to Layla's Makeup by Rebecca who is a fashion student, has aspirations to design her own wedding collection and then run her own wedding boutique.

We all love fashion so why not listen to a fashion student give you some tips on how to look good for ANY occasion!!

How to Accessorize for a Date?  

Accessorising is a wonderful way to enhance the ambience of outfit, bring a look together and paying a little bit of attention to detail, the right accessories can attract positive attention to yourself.

Women often desire to make the best impression during their day-to-day lives so of course you want to make an even better impression on a date especially during the first, second and third date!

Adding accessories like a bold statement ring, a delicate bracelet and a pair of beautiful earrings really does bring out the elegance and chic-ness in each and every woman. 

 

Dinner Date 

 

Dinner dates vary from a casual catch-up with friends to a semi-formal outing depending on the type of restaurant.

Say you're going to a classical dine-in restaurant, it's important to dress within the parameters of the mode of the restaurant. 

Try wearing a casual dress with pumps/flip flops and adding a gorgeous colourful handbag. 

Adding a simple pair of earrings and a cuff bracelet will then bring a look together. 

Simple and easy!

If you're not up to wearing a dress (like a lot of women) consider skinny jeans with pumps or wedge heels, a simple t-shirt and blazer. 

Accessorise this by adding a pair of statement drop earrings. 

Again Simple and Easy!

 

For a semi-formal restaurant you could opt for a sleeveless or off the shoulder dress with a pair of strappy heels. 

Adding beautiful diamond hoop earrings to this will make you look effortless yet incredibly chic and beautiful!

  

Movie Date 

 

The atmosphere in a movie theatre is certainly quite causal, relaxing, yet fun and energetic and the temperature definitely varies!!

Consider wearing skinny jeans or leggings with a long, loose t-shirt, flat biker boots and a solid coloured handbag. 

Add a little jacket too just to make sure you won't be cold!

If you're going to the movie theatre during the winter months then consider a long-sleeved t-shirt, leggings or skinny jeans, boots and cute colourful scarf. 

Adding hoop earrings definitely brings that cheeky splash of colour to your look whilst still looking casual.

Day Trip Date 

This one is quite tricky because normally a day trip runs longer into the evening so you have to make sure you're prepared for warmth during the day and cooler evenings. 

Luckily oversized bags are perfect for things like this as you can take along little 'extra's' to suit your mood right through the day. 

Take a hat and scarf if you're outside, they will keep you warm and looking cute.

A smart pair of skinny jeans or black leggings are a good place to start as you can dress it up or keep the look casual. In your adorable oversized handy bag take with you a pair of folding, flat shoes. 

If you're wearing a higher shoe you may want to change later in the day.

Keep your t-shirt simple and add a cute statement necklace...this looks good with everything!

 

When deciding which accessories match your outfit think that each piece should compliment your attire and the entire appearance of the outfit. 

Some accessories are only used to add flare and colour to your outfit (something to consider if you're wearing black) while other accessories add flare and sophistication to your causal outfit.

Miners Mango Tin o' Tint Lipbalm!

I've never tried anything from Miners Cosmetics and a few days ago found this lip balm in a press bag which I was sent!

I love the packaging as I think it's cute and you can tell straight away that it'll be a fruity smelling lip balm as there's a mango on the outside!

(I love mango!)

Upon opening the lip balm you get this gorgeous scent of melon/mango that's the best way to how I can describe it and I just want to eat it all up!!

(Don't worry - I won't)

As you can see in the picture it's a gorgeous peachy colour which compliments the fruity scent of the mango.

Like a lot of lip balms on the market this has a solid balm texture which softens with the heat from your fingers.

I have tried this a couple of times this week and as lovely as it smells it doesn't stay on for as long as I would like it or provide me with a moisturised feeling for a couple of hours....within 30 mins to an hour it seems to have disappeared.

I think this will last a good 3-4 months if you use a couple of times during the week BUT if you use it several times a day I don't think this will last that long unfortunately.

However if you love gorgeous smelling products and don't mind too much about it not lasting then this is definitely a product for you!

You'll love the beautiful, fruity smell and the delicate sheen you get on your lips!

Glam Glow & XenTan - Review Coming Soon!!!

Blogging is one of those things where it can be really, really rewarding and something which you look forward to doing every other evening.

When I first started writing on my blog it was a little weird, who's going to read my blog, what will my writing be like, will people be interested to see what I've been writing?

After a while you end up getting used to it and you gain more experience, more confidence, more followers and more comments making you interact more and that's what I love the most.

One of the biggest perks about being a beauty blogger is that I get to try and review some incredible products, work with incredible people and brands....I LOVE that part of blogging as it opens doors to a world of beauty, makeup and glitz which you don't really see if you're working as a make-up artist!

I got sent these lovely beauties a couple of weeks ago and cannot wait to start reviewing them and I think you'll enjoy it too.

GLAMGLOW and XENTAN sent me these little samples to try.

XENTAN is a tanning lotion and as I'm quite tanned anyway have been sent the 'dark'.....I'm a little scared as I normally don't fake tan an I normally wouldn't go for dark but I'll give it a go on my arm and if I like it I'll use it on my face.

Sometimes a tanning lotion can double up as a wonderful base for your make-up which I'll explain more in a future post.

Underneath you can see two little sachets of GlamGlow face masks which I'm really excited about so make sure you check back to see what happened, what I thought and most importantly what my skin thought!!

QUIZ Clothing - Oversized Jumper & Messy Hair!

I LOVE fashion and I LOVE soft, cosy jumpers especially when the weather is cold!

I love snuggling up in a cosy, oversized jumper as it's casual, comfy yet fashionable.

Imagine how excited I was when I received an email letting me know that I would be receiving a jumper from QUIZ clothing!

I think I actually said 'Eeeee....who me!?' yep...I'm a geek like that sometimes!

True to their word a couple of days later a wonderful parcel came through from QUIZ and I fell in LOVE with my brand new oversized, comfy, pretty jumper!!

Here are a couple of snaps of me wearing the jumper - my hair looks a bit messy hahaha BUT in my defence it was snowing and I really couldn't be bothered to fix it!

In the pictures I'm wearing the a size 10 (UK) which was far too baggy but I love it!! :)

I'm very happy in these pictures as you can see....I'm normally a very happy person so I'm sporting some smile or another!

My motto is 'Turn that frown upside down!'

People should appreciate the little things....you don't know how far a smile can go...it could make someones day or week! 

You just don't know!

I have teamed this jumper up with a pair of skinny-ish black jeans which I bought from Next and I wore them with some black biker boots.

I'm wearing a couple of rings as I wanted to keep the look quite simple...the jumper is pretty and delicate so I didn't want to add more jewellery to it!

Love jewellery?? Love Rose Mae Jewellery!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE jewellery!

To me jewellery is just as important as the rest of your clothes.....if you get your jewellery / accessories wrong then your whole outfit is dead!

Accessories and jewellery add touches of individuality to your outfit...you can mix and match colours, mix and match bangles, mix your earrings, stack on the rings, layer necklaces....the list really is endless with what you can do with jewellery.

Take a simple outfit - Black t-shirt and Black Trousers. You can change this look from one day to the next all from the accessories.

Go for a rock-chic look and layer lots of long necklaces, stack on bracelets, wear statement rings and add some high heels and a hat if you like.

Next day go for a delicate, sweet, girly look. Wear flat sparkle shoes, delicate chain bracelets and a simple necklace. 

2 days, two completely different looks!
